Peoria man who coached youth sports accused of assaulting minor

A Peoria man has been accused of sexually assaulting a minor female who was part of a youth sports program in which he was a coach.

Aydan Trueblood, 22, was charged over the weekend with predatory criminal sexual assault, according to the Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office. Trueblood appeared in Peoria County court on Monday, where a judge granted the state’s request for detention. He will remain in custody until his trial.

On Nov. 9, Bartonville police received a tip that Trueblood, who coached a youth sports program the victim participated in, had inappropriate conduct with the minor earlier this year.

A forensic interview was conducted at the Child Advocacy Center on Nov. 14. The victim said she and Trueblood communicated through Snapchat and that she snuck out of her home to meet him. Trueblood drove her to his parents’ home, where the assault took place, according to the state’s attorney.

Trueblood was arrested on Nov. 26. During an interview with detectives, he admitted to the assault occurring in February and to sending explicit photographs to the victim, the state’s attorney said.
