BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech beach volleyball freshman Alayna Pierce was honored by the Ohio Valley Conference for the first time in her young career on Wednesday, April 23, picking up postseason honors prior to the league’s championship tournament in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Pierce earned a spot on the OVC All-Freshman Team, becoming just the second Golden Eagle in program history to achieve the honor and joining teammate Jordan Karlen, who picked up the first in 2023.

The purple and gold have now seen at least one member earn postseason honors from the league in each of the program’s first three seasons. Maddie Isringhausen and Bella Powell were named to the All-OVC Second Team in 2024.

During the season, Pierce strung together a 6-15 overall record individually, including a 4-6 mark in league play. She finished the year 3-7 in the No. 1 duo slot and 3-8 in the No. 2 position.

The rookie split time with a few partners on the season, finishing 1-3 with Karlen. Competing with Powell, the tandem went 3-6, all out of the No. 1 spot. Pierce also partnered with Brook Amann, finishing 2-6 out of the No. 2 position.
