PITTSFIELD, Mass. — National Fitness Partners (NFP), a franchise group of Planet Fitness that operates 149 gyms across 10 states, celebrated Giving Tuesday by donating 800 pounds of food to the Western Massachusetts Food Bank.
This donation represents around 800 meals for local families experiencing food insecurity.
The contribution comes from six NFP locations in the area, aiding the Food Bank’s goal to eliminate hunger through collaborations with farms, state and federal initiatives, and community groups. In Western Massachusetts, approximately 12.1 percent of residents face food insecurity, including 17.3 percent of children, with Hampden, Berkshire, and Hampshire counties seeing the highest levels of need, as stated in a press release.
NFP consistently collaborates with local organizations via volunteer efforts, food drives, and fundraising events to meet vital community needs.
