The Lincoln East girls tennis team dominated as event hosts Monday at Woods Tennis Center, scoring 102 points to win the team race with ease.

Briana Rademacher took the No. 1 singles title in dominant 8-0 fashion vs. Elkhorn South’s Rhana Kang. Lincoln East added more points when the No. 2 doubles team of Stacia Jacobsen and Tatum Lewis secured the title against Omaha Marian’s duo of Sarah Egan and Jada Vosik. 

The Spartans also benefitted from runner-up finishes by Stella Stempson in No. 2 singles and Belinda Qiao and Kyler Garcia in No. 1 doubles. 

Kearney finished runner-up as a team with 76 points.

Lincoln Christian 4, Plattsmouth 0: The Class C No. 5 Crusaders cruised behind Grant DeHaan’s big day at the plate (two doubles, two RBI) and a combined shutout on the mound with Caleb DeWitt and Eilam Bryson.

Lincoln Pius X 5, Omaha Skutt 4: Jesus Yanez hit a game-winning sacrifice fly to lift the unranked Bolts to a win over the top-ranked SkyHawks. Pius X earned the big win despite committing three errors.

Lincoln Southeast 9, Lincoln High 1: Jon Moeller sparked the Knights’ four-run first inning with a two-run single.

Gretna East 6, Waverly 2: Nolan Green and Tanner Erdkamp each paced the Class B No. 6 Griffins with three hits.

Lincoln Northwest 4, Blair 2: Senior Noah Stevens threw six innings on one earned run ball as the Falcons defeated the Bears.

Norris 4, Elkhorn North 1: The Class B No. 5 Titans defeated the No. 8 Wolves behind Bryce Fountain, Anden Papik, Eli Starner, Tanner Klein and Alec Small’s collective pitching dominance. 

Lincoln Southwest 8, Lincoln Northeast 0: Luke Mitchell went 3-3 with a double, triple and three RBIs as he soared the Class A No. 10 Silver Hawks past the Rockets.

Softball

The Edmonds-Woodway Warriors clinched a berth in the 3A State Tournament with an 11-1 victory over Mount Vernon Thursday evening at Phil Johnson Fields. The Warriors showed up at the field with two chances to win one game to advance. The first opportunity ended with a 12-2 loss against the Snohomish Panthers, sending the Panthers onto the state tournament and forcing the Warriors to play a loser out/winner-to-state game against the Mount Vernon Bulldogs.

The Warriors jumped on the Bulldogs early, scoring three in the first inning and then adding on two more runs in each of the next two innings. Catie Ingalls, Abby McCorvey and Ella Campbell each contributed with three hits each. The Warriors as a team had 16 hits. Campbell also pitched all five innings for the Warriors, only allowing four hits, one run, one walk and three strikeouts.

The Warriors will head on down to the Regional Athletic Complex in Lacey for the 20-team state tournament that will begin on Thursday, May 22. State seedings and matchups will be posted on Sunday, May 18.
