Qualifying canceled. Starting grid set for Daytona race

DAYTONA BEACH — The Coke Zero Sugar 400 starting lineup is set.

And it wasn’t by qualifying.

Friday’s afternoon session never happened, with lightning canceling the proceedings at Daytona International Speedway. NASCAR also scrapped Xfinity Series qualifying.

The starting grid for Saturday’s Cup Series race was set by metric, meaning Ryan Blaney will start on the pole.

The Coke Zero Sugar 400 is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday. It’s the final event of the regular season and will determine the final two playoff drivers. It will air on NBC.
