CHICAGO – The Loyola University Chicago men’s track team is set to compete at DePaul’s Blue Demon Holiday Classic this Friday (Dec. 13). The Ramblers will race in the men’s 3k at the Dr. Conrad Worrill Track and Field Center at Gately Park on the Southside.  

The men’s 3,000m is slated to begin at 8:05 p.m.. The Holiday Classic marks Loyola’s second-to-last local meet of the indoor season.

Last time out at the Boston University Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener, Grace Kuhn shattered the program record in the 3,000m, clocking 9:20.91 to break the 2019 record by five seconds. Her efforts earned her the Atlantic 10 women’s track performer of the Week nod. 

Emma Watcke followed with the third-fastest time in school history at 9:26.23 while Roisin Treacy (9:36.83) finished with the ninth-fastest time at LUC.

In the mile, Alessandra Rodriguez recorded a personal best of 4:46.77, landing her fourth all-time at Loyola. On the men’s side, James Lawrence became the second-fastest Rambler in the 5,000m with a time of 13:49.18, improving his personal record by nearly 25 seconds.

The meet showcased standout performances across the board, including Samuel Field’s 4:01.58 in the mile, which secured him fourth all-time at Loyola. Jake Phillips and Cael Mulholland also delivered strong showings in the 5,000m, claiming eighth and ninth, respectively, on the program’s all-time list.

Following Friday, the Maroon and Gold are next in action Jan. 17-18 at the Hawkeye Invitational.
