Lerner & Rowe Gives Back, the nonprofit arm of Lerner & Rowe Injury Attorneys, will be hosting its annual charity golf tournament on April 25 at McCormick Ranch Golf Club.
This premier event brings together community leaders, businesses and passionate individuals for a day of camaraderie, competition, swag and, most importantly, giving back. In 2024, this event raised $1.1 million, which fueled an entire year’s worth of philanthropy. One hundred percent of the proceeds from this event go back to Arizona nonprofits through Lerner & Rowe Gives Back’s grant program and other charity giving.
“The Golf Classic is our biggest event of the year, and it’s always so powerful to see how people gather to show support for charities that are working tirelessly to make change across Arizona,” said Kevin Rowe, founder of Lerner & Rowe Gives Back and managing partner of Lerner & Rowe, P.C. “This event is more than just a single day on the course—it’s an opportunity to make a real, tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most.”
At this year’s event, there will be a special collaboration with First Tee Phoenix, which empowers kids and teens through the game of golf. Lerner & Rowe Gives Back is asking event goers to bring their gently used golf equipment (including clubs, bags, balls or other golf accessories) to support these young players in their goals of learning more about golf.
“We are grateful to Lerner & Rowe for adding a golf gear drive benefiting First Tee – Phoenix to this year’s tournament,” said Erin McDonough, CEO & Executive Director of First Tee – Phoenix. “All golf gear donations will support our programming by going directly into kids’ hands or being turned into cash to help us keep our youth development programming affordable and accessible to all.”

F1 title fight is increasingly focused on McLaren but Verstappen still hopeful
By JAMES ELLINGWORTH AP Sports Writer
Ahead of Sunday’s Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, this Formula 1 season is looking like McLaren vs. McLaren. Still, defending champion Max Verstappen of Red Bull says he hasn’t lost hope.
McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are the only ones to consistently have the pace through the first four rounds of the championship.
Norris has a three-point lead but admits he isn’t at his best — though he had the fastest time of the day in practice on Friday — while Piastri has momentum after winning in Bahrain last week.
Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes have all had their moments but none has been a consistent challenger, as McLaren’s 58-point constructors’ championship lead shows.
Friday practice
Norris went fastest in the second practice session, while Yuki Tsunoda crashed to continue his difficult start with Red Bull.
Norris was .163 seconds faster than Piastri in the second session, which was run under floodlights and more representative of race conditions than the hotter daytime session. Verstappen complained earlier in the day of his car feeling “very loose” in high-speed corners but ended Friday third fastest, .280 off Norris.
In his third race weekend with Red Bull since replacing Liam Lawson, Tsunoda clipped the wall on the inside of a corner and slid into the barrier on the other side, requiring a red flag.
Alpine’s Pierre Gasly was the surprise leader in the first session, just .007 of a second faster than Norris. Charles Leclerc of Ferrari was .07 off Gasly in third and Piastri fourth, barely a tenth of a second off the pace. Lewis Hamilton was eighth in the other Ferrari. Verstappen was ninth.
Verstappen’s hope
Verstappen is the only non-McLaren driver to win a grand prix this season, but in Bahrain he was struggling so much that Red Bull motorsport adviser Helmut Marko said he was concerned the Dutch star might reconsider his future.
Verstappen said this week he wasn’t considering the championship picture this early in the season.
“I’m not thinking about that. I just go race by race,” he said. “At the moment we are not the quickest. So then naturally it’s very tough to fight for a championship, but it’s still a very long road … I’m hopeful that we can still improve things.”
Two-time champion Fernando Alonso dampened speculation Verstappen could seek to join his Aston Martin team after Red Bull car designer Adrian Newey made that move last year.
Asked if he’d welcome being Verstappen’s teammate, Alonso said Thursday: “Yes, but it’s unlikely to happen. Very unlikely.”
Alonso’s current teammate is Lance Stroll, son of team owner Lawrence Stroll.
Busy schedule
Jeddah hosts the fifth race in six weeks in a hectic start to the season, which stays at a record 24 races. There’s a little respite after Saudi Arabia, with two weeks till the next event in Miami.
“It’s on the upper end of the limit. It feels like race 10 already,” said Williams driver Alex Albon, adding it’s especially tough on mechanics and other crew members.
“As drivers, we travel better than everyone else in the paddock. We stay in better hotels than everyone else in the paddock — it’s just a function of being in a privileged position. With mechanics … these are people with families. These are the people that really struggle.”
The rookies are still enjoying their first taste of F1, though.
“It’s just the beginning of my career, so I just want to keep racing and keep driving,” Sauber’s Gabriel Bortoleto said. “I’m learning new things every single weekend, so for me, if I could have another race next weekend, I would be very happy as well.”

I’m extraordinarily prone to blisters, and I literally don’t know what I would have done without these sock liners on my first backpacking trip. I thought I’d try them out for a day or two of my five-day trip just to see what they were like, but they soon became my favorite and then the *only* sock I wore.
That’s right, these were so comfortable and just the right thickness that I ended up wearing them as my only socks. They layered well under my hiking sock, as intended, with no complaints, but with just the toe sock, my feet felt so free, which, when also confined to a boot for 12 hours a day, was a feat. They’re sturdy in construction — even the fiddly bits around the toes — and they stayed remarkably fresh for being on my feet for literally five days. I have very sweaty feet, and these help to keep them as dry as possible, which keeps me blister-free and safe.
Take the advice I wish someone would have given me and go ahead and get several pairs. Injinji makes socks and liners in all different styles and thicknesses, and they’re bound to love them all.
Promising review: “These socks are exactly what I wanted and more. You can use them for athletic use, and they will wick away sweat and aid in keeping your feet dry, or you can slip them on underneath a pair of wool winter socks, and your feet will be nice and warm. The toe slots take a bit of getting used to, but with a little time, it will take no time. Haha. I highly recommend these socks whether you are wearing Vibram Five Fingers, Tabi shoes, or just regular tennis shoes. Your feet will thank you.” —driftmissile

Andrew Flintoff documentary reveals 'frustrations' at Top Gear crash speculation

Andrew Flintoff speaks of the “frustrations” he felt as speculation raged following his Top Gear car crash, in a trailer for his upcoming documentary.
A 90-minute film titled “Flintoff”, following the former England captain in the aftermath of the accident he experienced while filming for the BBC motoring show in 2022, is set to air later this month on Disney+.
And the first teaser shows Flintoff, who is back in cricket as head coach of England Lions and Northern Superchargers after a lengthy hiatus from the game, reflect on the incident.
Flintoff disappeared from view after sustaining serious facial injuries but eventually returned in a mentoring capacity with the England side in 2023 at the invitation of former team-mate Rob Key, now director of men’s cricket at the ECB.
In the trailer, Flintoff says: “I remember everything about it, it’s so vivid, this is what I’m left with. I’ve lived under the radar for seven months, one of the real frustrations was the speculation, that’s why I’m doing this now, (about) what actually happened.”
Later, he says “everyone wants more, you’re just a commodity” while speaking about the press attention he experienced during his career. The trailer also shows a medical check-up where he appears to receive some facial treatment.
The former all-rounder also looks to the future, adding: “I’ve always been able to flick a switch…I’ve got to find that switch again. (It’s) almost like I’ve had a reset and I’m trying to find out what I am now.”
Members of Flintoff’s family are also shown as contributors along with Gavin And Stacey creator James Corden and comedian Jack Whitehall, who both worked with Flintoff on panel show A League of Their Own.
The BBC “rested” Top Gear for the foreseeable future in 2023 after reaching a financial settlement with Flintoff, with the agreement reportedly worth £9m.
