Ottawa, Ont. (August 8, 2025) – Past and present members of the Carleton University Ravens Track and Field Team had unprecedented success at the 2025 Canadian Track and Field Championships. Leading the flock was Ravens shot put record holder Connor Fraser, taking home silver in his main event, the discus, placing ahead of Canadian World Champion decathlete Pierce Lepage. He followed up discus success on the last day of the meet with a fifth place in the shot put.

Former U SPORTS medalist and Ravens record holder in the 300m and 60m hurdles, Alexandra Telford, unlocked her old form as she came off hurdle two in the 400m hurdles semi-finals to make the final. With the fire unleashed, Telford came back in the final to win bronze, a feather’s breadth shy of winning silver. Telford would turn around on the final day with her Ottawa Lions teammates to obliterate the field in the open 4x400m relay.

Elsewhere in the field, Ravens shot put record holder and USports finalist Brianna Asiamah took fourth in the shot put behind Sarah Mitton, the second-ranked shot putter in the world. On the long jump runway, Maria Okwechime put a positive end to a very difficult season by soaring out past the iconic six-meter mark to end in fourth position. On the men’s side, Ravens’ record holder in both long and triple jump, Joshua Foster, qualified for the national final, finishing in fifth place just off his season’s best mark.

Other notable performances included Kierra McGillivray, who set a new personal best in the 100m qualifying rounds. Incoming Raven Cole Simard broke the 22-second barrier in the 200m quarter finals, just missing the semi-finals by a whisker with his time of 21.94.
