Recap of the 2025 NAIA Women’s Volleyball Championship Opening Round
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – [Opening Round Schedule | Results] Twenty-four teams have won their respective NAIA Women’s Volleyball Championship Opening Round matches on Saturday. The 24 teams will meet up at the final site in Sioux City, Iowa, starting December 3.
Opening Round Notes
- Nineteen hosts won their opening round match.
- The Cascade Collegiate Conference advanced five teams to the final site. The Great Plains Athletic Conference followed with four teams that will compete in Sioux City.
- Twelve conferences will be represented at the final site.
- Indiana Wesleyan and Missouri Baptist are the only teams with titles that remain in the field.
- There are no first-year teams that advanced to the final site.
- Cumberlands (Ky.) and Columbia International (S.C.) set a new championship record of the highest set score at 38-36 in set two.
- Seventeen automatic qualifiers advance to the final site, while seven at-larges remain in the field.
- Bushnell (Ore.), Huntington (Ind.) and Cumberlands (Ky.) won their first opening round match. Of the three, Cumberlands (Ky.) and Bushnell (Ore.) are making their first trip to the final site.
The final site pools will be announced on Sunday, November 23, at 1 p.m. CT.
Action at the final site will take place inside the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa, and will commence with three days of pool play from December 3 to 5. At the conclusion of pool play, the top team in each three-team pool will advance to the elimination bracket, starting with the quarterfinals, on Saturday, December 6. The semifinals will be played on Monday, December 8, and the Battle for the Red Banner will end on Tuesday, December 9.
