Redhawks Dominate UT Martin Wednesday Night

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.— Southeast Missouri State University (8-5, 1-0 OVC) swept UTM (1-11, 0-1 OVC) in a decisive 3-0 victory on Wednesday night at Houck Field House. The Redhawks dominated with set scores of 25-9, 25-18, and 25-16. 

The Redhawks posted a hitting percentage of .375, highlighted by an 18-kill performance in the second set, while the Skyhawks registered a .080 hitting percentage overall.

First Set  

– Southeast surged to an early 8-0 lead, highlighted by kills from Katherine St. John and Lucy Arndt, along with two service aces from Megan Holder.  

– The Skyhawks responded with a 4-0 run, narrowing the gap to 8-4 with kills from Kayla Bryant and Carly Mueller.  

– The Redhawks regained control, extending their lead to 13-5 with a mix of kills and a service ace from Nina Schuberth.  

Alandry Below contributed significantly, assisting on multiple points and sealing the set 25-9 with a kill by Mackenzie Tucker.  

Second Set  

– Southeast started strong with Marin Johnson’s kill and a block for an early 2-0 lead.  

– Arndt contributed key kills, helping the Redhawks maintain a narrow lead at 5-3.  

– A service ace by Ramiri Gardner extended the team’s advantage to 18-10.  

Alaina Lester’s kill brought the home team to set point, and an error by the Skyhawks secured a 25-18 win.

Third Set  

– The Redhawks surged to an early 3-1 lead with kills from St. John and Lester.  

– Gardner played a pivotal role, contributing multiple kills to extend the lead to 11-7.  

– Lester and Johnson added key kills as Southeast increased their lead to 17-10.  

– The team closed the set 25-16, with Johnson delivering the final blow from Below’s assist.
