AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn men’s golf looks to make it four titles in five events as it closes out the regular season this week, April 14-15, at the Ford Collegiate in Savannah, Georgia.
“We’re very excited to end our regular season at this event,” Tigers head coach Nick Clinard said. “I’ve heard nothing but fabulous things about the course, and the field of competitors is a field you’d see in a regional in the postseason. We’ve just got to worry about Auburn and being the best versions of ourselves. If we can do that, we’re going to be fine.”
The Ford Field and River Club plays host to 12 teams this week. Vying for top honors alongside the No. 1 Tigers are No. 2 Texas, No. 7 LSU, No. 20 South Carolina, No. 23 Georgia Tech, RV Tennessee, RV South Florida, Augusta, Georgia, Georgia Southern, Georgia State and Wisconsin.
Auburn will play Monday’s 36-hole day alongside LSU and Georgia Southern. Sophomore Cayden Pope will lead off from the front at 6:45 a.m. CT.
In addition to Pope, the Orange & Blue lineup consists of seniors Carson Bacha and Brendan Valdes and sophomores Josiah Gilbert and Jackson Koivun. Freshman Billy Davis will compete as an individual for the tournament.
All six players competed last time out at the Mason Rudolph Championship in Franklin, Tennessee. Each man finished inside the top 22 on the individual leaderboard. Koivun, Bacha and Valdes led the way with second, third and fourth-place finishes, respectively.
The trio spearheaded a comeback win for the Tigers; Auburn’s third in its previous four outings. Auburn has come out on top at the East Lake Cup, the Southern Highlands Collegiate, the General Hackler Championship and the Mason Rudolph. Heading into Savannah, the team boasts a 42-15-2 record against ranked opponents.
Live scoring for the Ford Collegiate will be provided via scoreboard.clippd.com.

The Broncos recorded two sweeps on the day to secure the championship, first defeating No. 3 San Jose State 3-0 in the consolation final before taking down three-time defending champion Texas A&M-Corpus Christi by the same margin in the championship contest.
Emilia Guerra-Acuña and Elli Wolthuis scored the first point of the day for the Broncos, winning 21-11, 21-18 against San Jose State’s Addison DeMarse and Elon Milroy from court four. Moments later, Ava Anderson and Addison Wolden gave Boise State a 2-0 lead with a straight-set win from the No. 2 position.
Both the Broncos’ No. 1 and 3 pairs took their respective first sets in the second flight to give the Blue and Orange a cushion. Charlee Ellena and Lily Patock eventually earned the clinching point, winning 21-15, 21-19 from court five to send Boise State to the championship dual.
Seeking revenge after losing the deciding point a day ago, Anderson and Wolden came out with a vengeance, winning 21-16, 21-18 on court two to give Boise State the first point of the day. Attention turned to court four, where the two sides split the first two sets. Guerra-Acuña and Wolthuis staved off three separate match points to secure a thrilling 21-19 third-set win to give the Broncos a commanding 2-0 lead entering the second flight.
The Islanders didn’t back down. After dropping the first set on two of the three courts, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi forced a third set in all three matches to send the dual to the wire. Tied 10-10 from the top court, Allyson Alden and Sharli O’Neil ripped off five straight points to secure the Broncos’ first championship in program history.

Quotables
“I’m really speechless. We’ve been chasing this for a long time and finally achieved our goal. To make history is just an amazing feeling. We’ve never done this before and I’m just so proud of our group.” – head coach Allison Voigt
“We’ve been working all year for this moment. Throughout the whole contest we just never celebrated too early. We just kept fighting for every point and we were able to get what we wanted in the end.” – Voigt
“That celebration was just pure joy. I love this team so much and I’m glad they got to experience that moment. Also, there have been several people over the years – both former players and former staff – that have helped grow this program to where it is and achieve moments like this. The fact that we get to go to the main stage next week against the top programs in the nation is exciting. We’re excited to show out and show what Boise State beach volleyball is all about.” – Voigt

Saturday the Atlanta Braves system has five games with Columbus playing a double header. Obviously the headliner for the system is Herick Hernandez making a start, but it could also be very interesting to watch Reds elite prospect Chase Burns challenge David McCabe with his high-end velocity.
Schedule
Gwinnett Stripers Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 6:35 PM ET
Probable Starters
GWN: Davis Daniel (0-2, 4.63 ERA)
JAX: Janson Junk (2-2, 3.28 ERA)
A day after being shut out on just five hits, the Stripers head back into action against big league depth piece Janson Junk, who has pitched for a couple teams in the last three seasons. The Carlos Rodriguez and Bryan De La Cruz outfield is going to be the duo to watch for Gwinnett as always, with Rodriguez being the most intriguing hitting prospect on the roster and De La Cruz as the team’s most talented bat with some recent big league production.
Columbus Clingstones at Chattanooga Lookouts 5:15 PM ET – Game 1
Probable Starters
COL: TBD
CHT: Chase Burns (N/A)
Columbus gets a test in the first game of the day, facing one of the top pitching prospects in the game in Chase Burns. This is Burns first Double-A start after three good starts in High-A. Pipeline’s #24 overall prospect was the second overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft after a standout college career at Tennessee and Wake Forest. It should be interesting to watch his elite velocity matching up with Braves prospect David McCabe – a player who some have had questions about facing premium velocity.
Columbus Clingstones at Chattanooga Lookouts Time TBD – Game 2
Probable Starters
COL: TBD
CHT: Ryan Cardona (0-1, 13.50 ERA)
This is the second game of the double header for Columbus, making up previous rain out. The player to watch here is David McCabe, who had two more hits yesterday – half of the total that the Clingstones managed as a team on Friday night.
Rome Emperors at Winston-Salem Dash 6:30 PM ET
Probable Starters
ROM: Herick Hernandez (0-0, 2.13 ERA)
WS: Seth Keener (0-1, 10.03 ERA)
Rome’s player to watch is going to be Herick Hernandez, last year’s fourth round pick who has started the season with 19 strikeouts over his first 12.2 innings of work. The talented lefty showed some positive signs in a tiny sample size last season after signing, and he is off to a very strong follow up in the early going this season. Seth Keener is opposing him, and he is a third round pick out of Wake Forest from the 2023 MLB Draft, so both of these pitchers are worth watching.
Augusta GreenJackets vs Delmarva Shorebirds 7:00 PM ET
Streaming | Radio
Probable Starters
AUG: Rayven Antonio (1-0, 3.00 ERA)
DEL: Sebastian Gongora (0-1, 11.57 ERA)
Mac Guscette continued his hot streak last night by hitting already his seventh double of the year and remains a player to watch while he is red hot. It’s also worth mentioning that after a slow start to the season Douglas Glod had a pair of hits, including a homer yesterday. Glod has dropped a bit in the prospect rankings over the past 18 months, but maybe finding some success yesterday can give him a push in the right direction.
