Vick played for Atlanta from 2001-2008, earning three of his four Pro Bowl selections.

His time as a player in Atlanta ended after a 2007 arrest and prison sentence for federal felony dog fighting conspiracy charges.

Vick returned to football after his nearly two-year stint in prison. He played for the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers before retiring from football in 2017.

Vick has no formal college football coach experience, but told the The Virginian-Pilot: “I know how to lead and I know what it takes.”

Norfolk State, an HBCU in Norfolk, Va., fired coach Dawson Odums in November after four seasons with the program. The Spartans went 4-8 (2-3 MEAC) in 2024.
