Robert Clifford Ross Obituary – The Star Press
Robert Clifford Ross, always known to all who knew him and loved him, as Rob, passed away at his home July 12th, 2025.
Rob was raised in the small town of Wheeling, attending Gaston Schools and graduating from Wes-Del High School. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Ball State University. Rob taught art at Selma Middle School for 41 years prior to his retirement.
He was a resident of Muncie prior to living his adult life in the Eaton area where he was active in youth sports of basketball and baseball.
Rob was known for taking his students on a yearly field trip. He was loved by his students for his passion of art and fun disposition.
He was a member of the National Education Association, Indiana State Teachers Association, Indiana Plein Air Painters Association, Hoosier Salon, Muncie Coin and Stamp Club, National Radio Controlled Truck & Pulling Association , Humpback Barn Poetry Group, Vintage Motorbike Club, Member of Academy of Model Aeronautics, Central Indiana Old Car Club, Minnetrista Antique Interest Group, Member of the Tri-State Gas Engine & Tractor Association, Richmond Art Museum Gallery 308 participant.
Rob enjoyed several hobbies including car shows, golf, fishing, photography, and auctions. He could put more activity into a 24-hour period than anyone. Most of the car shows and Radio control car activities he spent with his son Ryan. He was always on the go.
He also had a lifelong love of dogs, especially his two schnauzers, Mr. McKeever and Sir Simon.
Rob was preceded in death by his beloved mother and father, Gladys and Clifford Ross; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ann and Roscoe Collins; sister, Cathy Murray; brother, Jack L Ross; sister-in-law, Sharon G. Ross and nephew, Michael C. Ross.
Surviving is his loving and patient wife of 54 years, Janice Ross; the absolute joy of his life; son, Ryan Ross; special nephew, Chad Ross (Denise) and their children, Logan Ross and Kara Ross (Eaton); brother-in-law, Barry Collins (Beckie Anderson); sister, Marsha Patton (Boyd Gaston); along with several other nieces, nephews, and long time special friend, Jay Nolley.
Memorials may be sent to ARF (Animal Rescue Fund) of Muncie, Indiana.
The family wishes to thank Gentiva Hospice of Muncie for all the exceptional care and love given to the entire family. Their care was invaluable.
Ceremonies to celebrate Robert’s life are at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Road 3, Muncie, Indiana 47302. Visitation is from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. The funeral is at 2 p.m. Entombment will follow at the Gardens of Memory.
