Citarelli. “It was really great to sit here and see that the scouts, residents and local troop wanted to partner with the fire department to do the lifesaving stations here at the park.”Tyler Wilson, a member of the troop, says this youth driven service project is part of the process to become an Eagle Scout.“Those are the areas we identified as hot spots where we felt like people with no railings could fall into the water and whatever else,” said Capt. Catarelli. The stations will be placed at different locations including the boat ramp, kayak ramp, boat lift, fishing pier, and the flagpole.“We have a lot of open water on the park,” said Wilson. “We have an open kayak launch. We have an open boat ramp, so to have some lifesaving devices available just in case somebody has trouble is going to be a game changer, I believe for the town.”There will be a total of five stations throughout the park on Roland Ave. Each station will have a life ring and informational card to inform the community on what to do in case of emergency.SURF CITY, N.C. (WITN) – The Scouting America Troop 235 will be installing safety stations across the Soundside Park in Surf City on Saturday.
