BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men’s and women’s track and field teams competed for the second time this season during its indoor season at the Birmingham Crossplex at an event hosted by South Alabama. The Bulldogs competed in a one-day event against a mix of division I & II schools from the south and southeast regions of the country.In the distance events Samford had runners litter the top-10 in the 3k, six in the two events, as Edie Smith finished second on the women’s side and Arthur Langley came in third on the men’s side. The Bulldogs have a quick turnaround as they are back in action this weekend at the UAB Invite hosted at the same venue. The event starts on Feb. 7 at the Birmingham Crossplex. The field events began with the throwing events where the Bulldogs had their best finishes in the men’s and women’s shot put. Hannah Pettyjohn finished seventh overall on the women’s side and Bryce Davis came in fourth on the men’s side. The Dogs won their first event of the day in the women’s long jump as Ellison Chadwick won with a distance of 5.88 meters.The Bulldogs also finished atop the men’s triple jump as Ian Jones set the second-best jump in indoor program history with a mark of 14.83 meters. The pole vault saw Samford finish in 4-7 position on the women’s side led by Libby Jackson while Carter Ellis set the fifth-best mark on the men’s side of 5.23 meters. The high jump saw Samford finish in second on both sides as Dorsey Parker and Jaggerd Moore were the best Bulldogs on the day.On the track, Adeline Haisch dominated the field in the women’s mile, winning by nearly 20 seconds over her closest competitor as she set the South Alabama Invitational event record. Lizzy Pardue finished second in the women’s 400m followed by teammates Grace Lueders and Ayden Drake in third and fourth. The Dogs had representatives in each of the 60 meter hurdle events as Aalyah Mbenda finished fourth on her side while Bradley Franklin has won his final in both events he has competed in to start his Samford career.FOLLOW THE BULLDOGS:
