Schedule for 2025-26 state finals
First practices for fall sports have already begun for Texas high schools, and each team has the goal to play the last weekend of the season for a state title.
The University Interscholastic League sponsors 14 varsity sports and championships weekends are tentatively set on the calendar. Other final events scheduled include State Mariachi and State Chamber Music Contest.
State champions in the 2024-2025 school year for Austin-area schools include Cedar Park girls soccer; Vandegrift football; Westlake boys golf; Austin Achieve, Liberty Hill and Vandegrift in boys soccer; Round Rock Westwood in Team Tennis; Marcus Gonzales/Branton Kirchner from Wimberley, Daniel Zhang/Devon Zhang from Westwood, and Anwitha Duduka/Janya Tellabati from Westwood in doubles tennis and Wimberly in volleyball.
Here are the championship weekends for sports in order:
Cross Country: Oct. 31- Nov. 1
Swimming & Diving (4A and below): Feb. 12-13
Swimming & Diving (5A-6A): Feb. 20-21
Girls basketball: March 5-7
Boys basketball: March 12-14
Track and Field: May 14-16
