BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the second week in a row, Boston University women’s basketball forward Allison Schwertner has been chosen as the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Monday (Dec. 16).
Schwertner earns the recognition for the third time overall this season, most among Patriot League student-athletes. She is the first freshman in the league this year to repeat the award in consecutive weeks, and the first Terrier to do so since Maggie Pina (CAS’23) on Feb. 3 and Feb. 10, 2020.
In the 62-55 win over UMass Lowell back on Dec. 12, Schwertner tallied her first collegiate double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, becoming the only league rookie and one of two student-athletes overall to record a double-double on the week. In the fourth quarter alone, she racked up five points, four boards and a block to help spur BU’s comeback victory.
This season, Schwertner leads the Terriers with 15 steals and 6.1 rebounds per game while ranking second on the team and third among Patriot League rookies with 9.9 points per game.
BU returns to action on Saturday (Dec. 21) when it visits #RV Harvard. Opening tip is set for 12 p.m.
