SDSU PREPPED FOR 3 MATCHES IN 5 DAYS

South Dakota State and the rest of the Summit League head into a three-match week as the teams make the turn to the back half of the conference slate. The Jackrabbits travel to North Dakota Tuesday night, then return to Brookings to take on Oral Roberts on Thursday and Denver on Saturday at First Bank & Trust Arena.

KEY STORYLINES

  • South Dakota State enters the week at 13-3 on the season with a perfect 7-0 mark in the Summit League.
  • The Jackrabbits have a two-match lead on the rest of the conference with nine matches remaining in the regular season.
  • SDSU is rated 25th in the latest RPI rankings and is the No. 2 non-power conference team behind No. 10 Creighton.
  • South Dakota State set a new program record with 17 blocks at South Dakota on Saturday. That mark is the most blocks in a four-set match in the rally scoring era.
  • Sylvie Zgonc led the Summit League with 4.14 kills per set last week. She had 21 kills and hit .347 against the Coyotes Saturday night in Vermillion.
  • The Jackrabbits rank first in the Summit League and fifth in the country in blocks per set this season (3.03). SDSU’s .168 opponent hitting percentage ranks 21st.
  • Sydni Schetnan is 11th in the country in blocks per set individually (1.47) and Madison Burr ranks 60th (1.27).
  • Sylvie Zgonc averages 4.14 kills per set to lead SDSU’s offense. Madison Burr (2.44) and Hannah Klein (2.44) also notch more than 2.0 kills per set overall.
  • In conference games, Rylee Martin dishes 10.77 assists per set, which leads the Summit League. Overall, Martin’s 10.24 assists per set is 23rd in the nation.
  • SDSU has five players averaging at least 2.0 digs per set, led by 3.20 digs per set from Joslyn Richardson.
  • Against conference opponents, SDSU tops the Summit in hitting percentage (.257), opponent hitting percentage (.167) and blocks per set (3.04)
