Seven ACC Teams Headed to 2025 NCAA Volleyball Championship

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Seven Atlantic Coast Conference teams earned spots in the 2025 NCAA Division I Volleyball Championship, as announced Sunday night on the NCAA Selection Show on ESPN, headlined by Pitt earning a No. 1 seed.

In the Pittsburgh region, ACC Co-Champion Pitt (26-4, 18-2 ACC) will make its 10th straight NCAA Tournament appearance and play host to UMBC (13-11) on Friday, December 5, at 7 p.m. ET. SMU will head to the NCAA Championship for the second time as an ACC member and fifth time overall, taking on Central Arkansas (18-11) on Friday at 8 p.m. ET, in Dallas, Texas. The Mustangs finished out the regular season 25-5 overall and 17-3 in conference play.

 

In the Nebraska region, Louisville (24-6, 16-4 ACC) will make its 34th NCAA tournament appearance. The Cardinals will host Loyola Chicago (17-15) on Friday at 6:30 p.m. ET. Miami will head to Lawrence, Kansas, to take on Tulsa on Thursday, December 4 at 5 p.m. ET. The Hurricanes closed out the regular season with a 26-5 overall record and 16-4 in conference play.

 

In the Texas region, North Carolina will travel to Madison, Wisconsin, to face off with UTEP on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. ET. The Tar Heels, who finished out the regular season ranked No. 19 in the nation with a 21-8 overall record and a 14-6 league record, are making their 21st national tournament appearance. Nine-time national champion, Stanford (27-4, 18-2) will head to the national tournament for the second time as an ACC member, hosting Utah Valley (21-11) on Friday at 10 p.m. ET, in Stanford, California. The Cardinal claimed their first ACC title on Saturday, November 29, joining Pitt for a share of the conference title.

 

Georgia Tech will be the lone ACC representative in the Kentucky region, heading to Lexington, Kentucky, to take on UCLA on Thursday at 4 :30 p.m. ET. This is the Yellow Jackets’ 15th NCAA tournament appearance.

The NCAA Division I Volleyball Championship is a 64-team field, comprised of 32 automatic qualifiers and 32 at-large bids. Competition will be single-elimination, best three-of-five set matches.

The first and second rounds will be played on the campuses of 16 competing institutions. The regionals will be at non-predetermined sites of four competing institutions, with the finals located in Kansas City, Missouri, at the T-Mobile Center. Below is the championship schedule:

  1. First and second rounds: Thursday, December 4 through Saturday, December 6
  2. Regionals: Thursday, December 11 through Sunday, December 14
  3. Semifinals: Thursday, December 18 | 6:30 p.m. ET | ESPN
  4. National Championship: Sunday, December 21 | 3:30 p.m. ET | ABC

Vote for Sarasota, Manatee County 2025 Volleyball Player of the Year

  • The Herald-Tribune has announced its 2025 Fall All-Area team selections for Manatee and Sarasota counties.
  • Venice’s Tien Murray was named the Player of the Year from the First-Team selections.
  • Voting for the fan-selected Player of the Year will close on Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 9 a.m.

The Herald-Tribune started rolling out its 2025 Fall All-Area team selections.

We honored the top players from Manatee and Sarasota counties by naming First Team, Second Team, and Honorable Mentions lists.

We also named a Player of the Year from among the 14 First-Teamers in Venice’s Tien Murray.

Tien Murray of Venice High School is the 2025 Herald-Tribune All-Area Volleyball Player of the Year.

Meet the 2025 Volleyball Team

DeLand won its sixth consecutive district title and made the furthest postseason run in the Volusia-Flagler area in 2025.

The Bulldogs advanced to the Region 1-7A semifinals but had to play Winter Park, the No. 1 team in Florida. DeLand’s season came to an end there, but it was still a successful campaign for one of the area’s perennial powers.
