Shiloh Hendrix responds to charges through online post
ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – The woman at the center of a viral video including racial slurs against a child, now charged with disorderly conduct, says she will continue to fight.
Earlier this week, the Rochester City Attorney’s Office announced the three disorderly conduct charges tied to Shiloh Hendrix’s alleged late April actions at a Rochester park.
In an Aug. 28 post on her self-established online fundraising page, Hendrix wrote, “I am sure you are all aware of the ‘charges’ that the liberal state of Minnesota is trying to burden me with. I guarantee you that I will not be backing down, and I will be fighting back. I have an excellent team on my side who are knowledgeable and trustworthy. I am confident in our success. In the United States, we are protected by the First Amendment, and no amount of hurt feelings can change that.”
In the now viral video Hendrix claimed a Black child had taken something that belonged to her child while at Roy Sutherland Playground at Soldiers Field. In the clip, Hendrix is seen directing racial slurs toward that child, who reportedly has a disability.
After the incident hit the internet, Hendrix started a crowdfunding effort to raise money, claiming she and her family had been the target of online harassment. She also stated she “called the kid out for what he was.”
“I have used the donation money to buy my family a home with plenty of land,” she wrote on her GiveSendGo page. “We are now in a place with excellent demographics, and we are thriving.”
KTTC has reached out to GiveSendGo for the financial amount currently paid out to Hendrix; however, a response has not been provided.
In a one-on-one interview with the site’s co-founder Jacob Wells in May, Wells told KTTC any legal action would not prevent Hendrix from being paid, citing the company’s “rigorous” review process.
