COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – A man is facing a slew of charges after police say he fired a gun inside a home Sunday night.

The incident started with reports of a disturbance at a gas station off East Fountain Boulevard near Union. Police didn’t provide details about the disturbance but said the investigation led them to a nearby home in the 1000 block of Stewart Place.

“Officers were investigating and trying to speak to the suspect when the suspect pulled a female into a room with him and officers heard a gunshot,” a CSPD lieutenant said.

Police immediately went into that room and detained the suspect after a struggle.

“They were also able to secure the firearm the suspect had used, which was still in close proximity to the suspect. The female was not harmed, and it was determined that the suspect fired into a ceiling,” the lieutenant said.

No officers were injured during the struggle with the suspect.

The man has been identified as 53-year-old Spence Massey, and he is facing charges of first-degree assault, felony menacing and reckless endangerment, among other charges.
