RUMFORD, MAINE – The alpine and Nordic ski teams opened the 2025 EISA carnival season this weekend at Bates, competing in the giant slalom and 1.3K Freestyle.
After one day of racing, the Big Green are in first place with 481.5 points.
At Sunday River on the Giant Slalom, Dartmouth was led by Benny Brown, placing third overall with a time of 2:29.01. In his first run, Brown posted a 1:15.78 followed by a 1:13.23.
In his first race with the Big Green, Calum Langmuir finished seventh overall posting a 1:16.55 and a 1:13.42 for a combined time of 2:29.97. Just behind was Dan Gillis, finishing in ninth with a combined 2:30.03. Philip Lundquist (2:32.52) and Louis Latulippe (2:32.84) rounded out the giant slalom for the men.
The women’s giant slalom was highlighted by Allie Resnick, earning her first podium of the season, a first-place finish with a combined 2:33.77. Izzy Washburn also found herself on the podium, finishing third with a 2:35.27.
Just behind in fifth place was Zoe Zimmermann. Zimmerman posted a 2:35.30 across the two runs. Emma Resnick finished eighth (2:35.89), Carly Elsinger in twelfth (2:37.44), Noémie Longchamps in 14th (2:37.75), and Sammi Trudeau in 35th (2:41.53) rounded out the women.
At Black Mountain, the Nordic skiers competed in the 1.3K Freestyle Sprint. Luke Allan, John Steel Hagenbuch, Aiden Casy, Asa Chalmers, Aaron Power, and Cooper Camp, were all in the top 30 after their first run, qualifying them for the heats.
Allan went on to win the final heat and therefore the day, posting a 2:31.48. Hagenbuch was right behind, also landing a spot on the podium with a third-place finish.
On the women’s side, Ava Thurston, Evie Walton, Amelia Tucker, and Maeve Ingelfinger are qualified for the top 30 following their first race. Thurston and Walton led the way for the Big Green, finishing third and fourth on the day with a 2:56.22 and a 2:57.
The ski team will return to action Saturday, wrapping up the Bates Carnival and looking to get their first EISA Carnival win of the season. The Nordic skiers will race the 15K Freestyle at Black Mountain while the alpine skiers will take on the slalom at Sunday River.
