Chino Valley Young Life golf Sept. 18
The annual Chino Valley Young Life nine-hole golf tournament will take place at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18 at Los Serranos Golf and Country Club, 15656 Yorba Ave. in Chino Hills. Dinner will be served.
Cost is $150 per golfer, or $550 for a group of four.
Raffle tickets will be sold at three for $10, 25 tickets for $50, and 50 tickets for $100.
Proceeds will benefit the Chino Valley Young Life charitable organizations.
Golf 4 Scouting event Sept. 19
The 17th annual Golf 4 Scouting tournament will tee off at 8 a.m. Friday, Sept. 19 at Dos Lagos Golf Course, 4507 Cabon Drive in Corona, benefiting the California Inland Empire Council, which includes troops in Chino and Chino Hills.
Cost is $200 per golfer. The tournament will feature a breakfast, raffle prizes, auction items, on the course contests, and trophies for first-, second- and third- place teams.
Food for Life golf Oct. 20
The eighth annual Food for Life golf tournament will begin at 8 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20 at Los Serranos Golf and Country Club, 15656 Yorba Ave. in Chino Hills. Cost is $175 per golfer. Golfers will receive breakfast and lunch. Proceeds will benefit the Food for Life Ministry, which provides food those in need. Youth basketball clinic starts Sept. 20
The City of Chino will host a six-week basketball clinic for children ages 9 to 14 on Saturdays, starting Sept. 20 at the Neighborhood Activity Center, 5201 D St.
Cost is $85 for Chino residents, $95 for non-residents.
Players ages 9 and 10 will take part from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.; ages 11 and 12 from 10 a.m. to noon; and ages 13 and 14 from noon to 2 p.m. Players will receive a T-shirt and certificate.
Tip-Off Showcase Nov. 18-22
Ayala and Don Lugo high schools are among the 28 teams scheduled to compete Nov. 18-22 at the second annual Ayala High Tip-Off Showcase boys’ basketball event at Ayala High, 14255 Peyton Drive in Chino Hills.

Basketball league
to begin
A men’s basketball league will be held Sundays, Oct. 5 through Dec. 14 at the Neighborhood Activity Center, 5201 D St. in Chino.
Cost is $365 per team if registered by Saturday, Sept. 27. A $10 late fee applies if registering after that date. Non-Chino residents are required to pay a $10 fee.
Referee fees are $35 per team, per game.
Teams are also required to pay a $75 forfeit bond.
The 10-week season will have teams placed in the recreation or advanced division.
Playoff games will be held at the conclusion of the regular season. Players must be at least 18 years old. Information: cityofchino.org.
Open gym
basketball available
The City of Chino offers open gym basketball at the Neighborhood Activity Center, 5201 D St. and Preserve Community Center, 15800 Main St.
Pee Wee baseball starts Oct. 11
Children ages 3 to 6 can participate in the City of Chino’s Pee Wee baseball program, scheduled for Saturdays, Oct. 11 through Nov. 8 at Founders Park, 8151 W. Preserve Loop in Chino.
Cost is $55 for Chino residents or $65 for non-residents if registered by Saturday, Sept. 27.
After that date, the cost will increase by $10.
