ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The James Madison track & field team achieved eight top-five placements and secured two event titles at the Navy Indoor Invitational held on Saturday afternoon at the Wesley A. Brown Field House.
 
Jordyn Henderson began her senior year with an impressive first-place finish of 8.44 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles. The Dukes concluded their season opener by clinching victory in the 4×400-meter relay with a time of 3:52.26, achieved by the team of Esther Saint-Germain, Faith Fuqua, Christine Fitzgerald, and Holly Mpassy.
 
How It Unfolded

  • Kaia Putman secured a silver medal in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.71.
  • First-year student Faith Fuqua placed third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.99, with Putman (25.08) finishing fourth.
  • Holly Mpassy recorded the fifth-fastest 500-meter time in program history, finishing in 1:14.92 to take third place. The JMU record stands at 1:13.49, set by Anoush Stamm in 2020 during the Liberty Kickoff in Lynchburg, Va.
  • On the track, Christine Fitzgerald finished fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.33 during her collegiate debut.
  • Classmate Grace Mimnaugh finished in the top five of the triple jump with a mark of 11.27m (36-11.75).

Next Up
The Dukes will resume competition after New Year’s, traveling to Blacksburg, Va., for the Hokie Invitational on January 17-18.
