Coach Devon Coppin emphasized the importance of developing young men through the privilege of playing sports. “It feels so nice. All that hard work and time — it was a lot, it was draining, But once I took a visit, I just knew it was the right move. That was going to be my home,” he said.”There’s a level of pride that comes with this — being able to see them go on, whether it’s to a Division I school, a junior college, or anything in between. Not many high school athletes get the opportunity to play at the college level … it’s amazing,” he said.Defensive lineman Shawn Hansen signed to play football at College of the Redwoods. Two standout football players from Clackamas High School announced their college commitments on National Signing Day.”I feel so relieved knowing where I’m about to go for the next couple of years. I feel a sense of joy and happiness all around. Ever since seventh grade, I was just addicted to playing football,” he said.Star wide receiver Luke Baker will continue his football career at Western Oregon University. “I’m just excited. I mean, this is definitely one of the most rewarding parts of the job — getting to see these guys go on to their next step,” said Clackamas High football head coach James Holan.
