Playoff implications loom large as the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series returns to Watkins Glen International on Friday night.

With just two races remaining in the regular season, road-race master Corey Heim has already clinched the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series regular season title as the series returns on Friday night to Watkins Glen International for just the second time since 2000. Heim is the first truck series driver to win three consecutive road races and leads the series with five overall victories in 2025. Seven drivers are already qualified for the 10-driver playoff field, but Stewart Friesen is out for the season after sustaining serious injuries in a July 28 crash at a Super DIRTcar Series event in Canada.

Friesen will be replaced on Friday by Cup Series regular Christopher Bell before Kaden Honeycutt takes over the ride for the rest of the season. Friesen may request a waiver to be eligible for the playoffs. By missing the final two races of the regular season, Friesen is ineligible to compete in the playoffs without a waiver. That would guarantee Friesen a 10th-place finish in the standings despite not being able to race.

The other six drivers qualified with wins this season are Heim, Chandler Smith, Layne Riggs, Daniel Hemric, Tyler Ankrum and Rajah Caruth. Grant Enfinger has a 105-point lead over Ben Rhodes and leads the non-winners trying to get into the Round of 10 playoffs. Honeycutt is 90 points ahead of Rhodes, with defending champion Ty Majeski up by 78 points and Jake Garcia holding a 16-point edge for the final spot — unless Friesen requests and is granted a waiver.

The last time the trucks were on the 2.45-mile short course at The Glen was in 2021, when Austin Hill took the checkered flag. The race is set for 72 laps and 176.4 miles, with race stages set at 20, 20 and 32 laps.
