Cream rising to the top in college football
While the NIL has “evened” college football, with more parity than ever, the top five or six CFB powers are deservedly at the top as the football season hits its midpoint.
Ohio State opened the campaign to repeat as champions by getting by pre-season No. 1 Texas. That win doesn’t look as monumental now.
Of the top teams, the Buckeyes have easily played the weakest schedule, and the slate for the rest of the season isn’t any harder. They should go unbeaten through the playoffs.
The heart-warming Indiana Hoosiers are way up at No. 2, and their schedule is soft the rest of the way. If you are a Big Ten or SEC team, it is foolish to play tough non-conference games. Do like Ohio State or Indiana. Play cream puffs and make a title within reach.
Texas A & M, Alabama, and Georgia are ranked 3-5 and could be No. 1 seeds when we get into the playoffs. Their schedules are the toughest in the nation and don’t get much easier down the stretch.
Here are the latest top ten teams: 1. Ohio State 2. Indiana 3. Texas A & M 4. Alabama 5. Georgia 6. Oregon 7. Ole Miss 8. Miami 9. Georgia Tech 10. Vanderbilt.
Alabama and Georgia are playing the toughest schedules. The rankings are packed wth SEC powers.
Here’s Fearless’ forecast this week:
Virginia over North Carolina, California over Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech over Syracuse, SMU over Wake Forest, North Texas over Charlotte, Indiana over UCLA,
Auburn over Arkansas (even,) and Alabama over South Carolina. Also, Pitt over N.C. State, Vanderbilt over Missouri (close), Ole Miss over Oklahoma (close), and Texas over Mississippi State. And, Miami over Stanford, Texas A & M over LSU (toss-up), Tennessee over Kentucky, and Louisville over Boston College.
