Three Members of the Denison Women’s Track and Field Team Earn CSC Academic All-District® Team Selections

Granville, Ohio- (June 24, 2025)- Three members of the Denison Women’s Track and Field team were named to the 2024-25 College Sports Communicators’ Women’s Track and Field Academic All-District® Team earlier this week. Congratulations to Sydney Flores, Ava Sinex, and Lexi Verdell.

Sydney Flores– Throws

Flores, a junior thrower from Durango, Colorado, earned her first CSC Academic All-District® Team nod after taking home the Shot Put title in this year’s North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Indoor Championships and then finishing second in both Shot Put (13.12m) and Discus (38.46m) at the NCAC Outdoor Championships. Throughout the season, she was named the NCAC Field Athlete of the Week twice, and earlier this spring, she was one of 56 student-athletes inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma.

Ava Sinex– Hurdles

Sinex, a sophomore from Carmel, Indiana, earned a spot on the CSC Academic All-District® Team after a strong second year as a Big Red. She earned All-NCAC honors after finishing third in the 4x200m relay (1:45.95). She recorded a personal best in the 400m hurdles at the NCAC Outdoor Championships with a time of 1:06.76 in the prelims, qualifying her for the finals, where she finished seventh overall.

Lexi Verdell– Distance

Verdell, a sophomore from Cleveland, Ohio, rounds out the CSC Academic All-District® Team selections for Denison. At the Indoor Conference Championships, she helped the Big Red to a third-place finish in the Distance Medley Relay (12:51.45). Throughout the season, she tallied four personal bests in the 1,500m, 3000m, 800m, and mile, all of which she finished in the top four.
