The Tommy Bohanon Foundation gathered 600 toys for children in the community and secured $20,000 in donations during the fifth edition of the Tommy Bohanon Foundation Softball Tournament.
Taking place on Nov. 30 at the Northwest Softball Complex in Cape Coral, this event attracted 12 coed teams of different skill levels—many outfitted in unique Christmas-themed uniforms—and included 18 local vendors offering holiday crafts, food, art, and home decorations. Kids enjoyed a bouncy house, arts and crafts activities, and various games, along with chances to snap photos with Santa Claus.
Organizations benefiting from the 2024 event included the Children’s Advocacy Center of Southwest Florida, Children’s Network of Southwest Florida, Living Word Ministries, Lucy’s Love & Light Ministries, and North Fort Myers Fire Control & Rescue Service District.
“In Southwest Florida, 65 percent of families live under the poverty threshold,” stated foundation president Tommy Bohanon. “If we can help provide a Christmas for these kids that they wouldn’t have otherwise, then we’re making progress.”
This softball tournament, scheduled on Small Business Saturday, showcased local vendors offering a range of products, including Bella’s Custom Creations, Bright Blooms by TLR, Brookes Nugget Wagon, Bowtique, Cosmic Cupcake Creations, D1 Craft Room, Diggin’ For Treats, Factory 44, Forever Wear Permanent Jewelry, Jayce’s Freeze Dried Candy Shack, Jewelry by Kaye Krest, Maryland Original Snowballs, McCuties Children’s Boutique, Southern Grace Co., Tangled Roots Potting Bar, The Brunchy Bunch, The Crafty Cuties, and WJ Designs.
Throughout its five-year journey, the Tommy Bohanon Foundation Softball Tournament has amassed $90,000 in toys and donations, aiding in providing shopping experiences for local families in need.
