ITHACA, N.Y./Boston, Mass. – The Bearcats achieved six top finishes, setting a school record alongside a freshman record at the Cornell/Greg Page Relays. This non-scoring event, lasting two days and concluding on Saturday, kicked off the Bearcats’ season. Furthermore, several distance runners participated in the Boston University Season Opening Meet on Saturday 

Graduate student Jenna Chan triumphed in the women’s 60 hurdles, breaking her previous school record with a time of 8.44, surpassing her previous 2024 mark of 8.46. Other notable first-place winners on the women’s side included senior Gianna Hoose in the weight throw (54-2 ½) and freshman Savanna Edwards in the 500 (1:19:12).

The men’s side also saw three individual champions at Cornell. Senior Joe Cardascia won the 500 (1:05.58), redshirt junior Brian Luciano secured the weight throw (67-1 ¼) and freshman Brennan Delany achieved first place in the heptathlon (5,032).

The freshman record was achieved by Justin Hargraves, whose fifth-place finish in the 60 with a time of 6.88 broke Jon Alkins’ 2014 record of 6.92.

For the women, runner-up finishes were recorded by sophomore Kaya Duran in the 500 (1:20.31), junior Lucciana Robertson in the high jump (5-7 ¼) and junior Alyssa Armitage in the pole vault (12-6 ¼).

On the men’s front, graduate student Marcus Johnson earned second place in the triple jump (47-5 ¼).

During the Boston Season Opener, recognized as one of the premier opening-weekend meets nationwide, junior Andrew Rosenblatt and senior Jennifer Mui each achieved personal bests in the 3,000. Rosenblatt finished with a time of 8:25.76, while Mui completed her race in 10:00.39. 

Binghamton will compete again on Jan 18 at the Cornell Upstate Challenge.
