BLACKSBURG, Va. – North Carolina track and field opened on day one of the Hokie Invitational, with 12 different Tar Heels athletes producing their personal best time or mark on Friday. Results The men’s 300m closed out the night with both Tar Heels picking up a personal best in the race. James Rivera (34.55) and Trevor Paschall (34.83) finished in eighth and thirteenth All three runners in the women’s 300m posted terrific times, as Harley McNeal (38.89) made her college debut and finished in third, winning her heat. Maameyaa Nyinah (40.41) and Lea Spindell, 40.62 both crossed the line in a personal best time.Women’s Pole Vault Unseeded:

Both Tar Heels were the fastest collegiate athletes in the event.In her second career meet, Maddy Kelley (3.97m) notched a personal best and an ACC Standard mark in the pole vault to take second in Carolina’s first event in Virginia.The women’s 800m was all Tar Heels, as Ella Auderset (2:08.40) and Cassidy Scott (2:10.32) finished first and second, respectively.The women’s mile also produced some great results. Sydney Masciarelli (4:41.16) posted a PR and also an ACC Standard mark. Lilly Shapiro (4:57.72) won her heat, while Grace Hanson (4:58.92) produced a PR.Ty Castro (16.92m) has thrown a personal best mark in three straight meets dating back to the outdoor season. Kosi Umerah( 20.21m) and Gracie Bolick (17.02m) posted back-to-back PRs to open the season. Umerah finished second, and Bolick finished eleventh.
