Tracking undefeated women’s volleyball teams in 2025
We are tracking all the remaining undefeated teams in DI women’s volleyball for the 2025 season. There are three still undefeated. Clemson and Hofstra were each handed their first loss on Friday, Sept. 26.
Since 1981, there have been only four programs — five teams — to finish a season undefeated and win a national title: Penn State (2008, 2009), Southern California (2003), Nebraska (2000) and Long Beach State (1998).

Penn State holds the longest win streak in DI women’s volleyball history with 109 match victories from 2007-10, with the Nittany Lions winning four consecutive titles (2007 through 2010). The 2009 title team is the most recent undefeated champion.

Undefeated DI women’s volleyball teams in 2025
Rankings are from the AVCA:
- No. 1 Nebraska (11-0): The Huskers’ challenging nonconference schedule included wins against Pitt, Stanford, Kentucky and Creighton. Nebraska started a season 10-0 for the third time since joining the Big Ten in 2011. Next: vs. Maryland on Saturday, Sept. 27.
- No. 2 Texas (9-0): Texas boasts five top-10 victories in nonconference play to start the season. The Longhorns are coming off four consecutive home sweeps.
Next: vs. Missouri on Friday, Sept. 26. - West Virginia (12-0): Though the Mountaineers do not have any ranked wins, they have posted seven straight sweeps. Next: at Cincinnati on Saturday, Sept. 27.
