LA JOLLA, Calif. — UC San Diego head coach Peter Simeone has released the Tritons’ upcoming men’s rowing schedule, which features four regular season contests across March and April. The 2025 season is the program’s first in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), which added men’s rowing as its 15th sponsored sport over the offseason.UC San Diego men’s rowing has made eight-straight IRA Championship appearances. The IRA is the national governing body of collegiate men’s rowing.About UC San Diego Athletics
After two decades as one of the most successful programs in NCAA Division II, the UC San Diego intercollegiate athletics program began a new era in 2020 as a member of The Big West in NCAA Division I. The 23-sport Tritons earned 30 team and nearly 150 individual national championships during its time in Divisions II and III and helped guide 1,400 scholar-athletes to All-America honors. A total of 84 Tritons have earned Academic All-America honors, while 38 have earned prestigious NCAA Post Graduate Scholarships. UC San Diego scholar-athletes exemplify the academic ideals of one of the world’s preeminent institutions, graduating at an average rate of 90 percent, the highest rate among public institutions in Divisions I and II.
The team’s lone competition weekend in San Diego splits the two Stanford events. The Tritons will participate in the San Diego Crew Classic March 28-30 in Mission Bay.The inaugural MPSF Championship will be held May 17-18 at Lake Natoma in Gold River, California. The Tritons are fully eligible for all postseason competition, including the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Championship May 30-June 1.A trip to Washington April 26-27 will be UC San Diego’s final regular season contest of the year. The Tritons and Oregon State will visit Gonzaga for a tri dual competition. All three schools are members of the MPSF, as is Stanford.Simeone returns for his second season at the helm of the program and his third at UC San Diego. His team features 24 returners and 15 newcomers.Regular season action kicks off the weekend of March 1-2 in Redwood Shores, California. Stanford will host multiple teams at its home course for the first of two invitationals. UC San Diego will return to Redwood Shores for the second event April 5-6.
