TROY, N.Y. – Liberty League commissioner Tracy King has announced that 1,226 spring sport student-athletes have qualified for the league’s All-Academic Teams in their respective sports, marking highest total for the spring season in the league’s 30-year history. The mark surpasses the previous high of 1,123 set last spring (2024). It also marked the fifth consecutive year that more than 1,000 spring sport student-athletes have qualified for the All-Academic Teams.
Skidmore was well represented by 99 student-athletes from nine teams. Men’s Lacrosse led the way with 22, while the women’s lacrosse team had 21.
“The fact that we saw an increase of more than 100 student-athletes qualifying for our all-academic teams is remarkable,” said King. “Our student-athletes are incredibly well-rounded individuals, excelling in the classroom and on the playing field while also engaging with their local communities. The academic achievement of our student-athletes has always been a great source of pride for our member institutions. I applaud our students for their outstanding work in the classroom.”
To be recognized as a member of the All-Academic Team a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30. The spring championship sports include baseball, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s rowing, softball, men’s and women’s tennis, and men’s and women’s track and field.

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Initially formed out of desperation, the team of Terese Cannon and Megan Kraft continues to show they have more in common than just a love for beach volleyball.
The former national champions during different time periods at USC displayed their growing chemistry over the weekend at the Huntington Beach Open, reaching the championship match of the women’s bracket on Sunday before losing in three sets to top-seeded Kristen Nuss and Taryn Brasher.
“Our goal this weekend was to have a lot of fun and be physical and aggressive, and I feel we kept that consistent all tournament through,” said Kraft, who was seeded third with Cannon. “We felt like that is how we wanted to play, and, although the outcome wasn’t what we wanted, we were happy with finding our identity.”
Cannon is a New York native who became a two-time NCAA beach volleyball champion while at USC from 2016-19, and Kraft came from Torrey Pines High before winning four straight national titles with the Trojans from 2021-24.
They teamed up on the AVP Tour in September of 2023 after Kraft’s partner decided to transition to indoor volleyball, and Cannon’s partner retired. Qualifying for the 2024 Olympics was already well underway, leaving them no opportunity to make up ground.
So, they got busy learning about each other and discovered they not only went to USC, but were both accounting majors and had a twin sibling.
They also played the same position on the sand, left-side blocker, not ideal for beach volleyball teammates, but Kraft made a flawless switch to right-side defender.
“One of the best in the world at it,” Cannon said. “Pretty impressive.”
Cannon and Kraft knocked off the second-seeded Canadian pair of Brandie Wilkerson and Melissa Humana-Paredes in three sets in a semifinal on Sunday.
Wilkerson and Humana-Paredes won silver at the 2024 Olympics, where the U.S. went without a medal for the first time in the history of the event.
Cannon and Kraft then pushed Nuss and Brasher to three sets in the final. Nuss and Brasher are former LSU teammates who represented the U.S. at the 2024 Olympics.
The results from the weekend have Cannon and Kraft excited about a potential run at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
“It’s been so fun getting to play with Meg,” Cannon said. “Yeah, maybe our other partnerships didn’t work out under the best circumstances, but it all worked out for a reason because I’ve never had more fun playing with anyone. So, I’m just really excited to keep growing and see how good we can get.”
The top-seeded men’s team of Miles Partain and Andy Benesh beat fellow 2024 Olympians Chase Budinger and Miles Evans in the championship match, 21-14, 21-14.
Partain and Benesh did not drop a set in their four matches at the tournament and hardly trailed.
“We’ve been training more consistently than any year, so that definitely has something to do with it,” said Partain, whose family home burned down in the Palisades fire in January.
Evans said Partain and Benesh didn’t show any hesitation on offense, a sign of confidence.
“They definitely don’t give you a lot of mistakes,” Evans said. “They don’t give you free points, and they seem pretty level-headed throughout the whole match. When we practice against them, it almost looks like they’re bored. They look like they’re just super, super even-keeled all the time, and I think that helps them a lot.”
Benesh, a Palos Verdes native, used his 6-foot-8 frame to produce six blocks in the first set of the championship match, several on the 6-7 Budinger, who played seven seasons in the NBA.
Even more impressive, Benesh has four service aces.
“Andy’s serve was really good,” Partain said. “That got us several points per set.”
After winning the 16-team, single-elimination event in Huntington Beach, Partain and Benesh next head to Florida in two weeks for the 24-team Palm Beach Open.
“We know every time we come out here, we’ve got to play our A-game,” Benesh said. “We’re just trying to compete as hard as we can when we step on the court.”

AZUSA, Calif. – San Diego Women’s Track rounded out it’s season at the Franson Last Chance Meet on Friday and Saturday, taking to the track one last time to culminate the season with personal bests and heat victories.
“We had some athletes who were not ready to complete the season, and they wanted just one more shot to improve their competitive performances,” said Head Coach Will Guarino. “We walked away with race heat victories, personal bests, and All-time marks. It was a journey worth taking.”
Torero competition started on Friday with the 800m, as Olivia Gaspar highlighted the 800m with a third-place finish in her heat and a personal best time of 2:25.83. Freshman Kara Curry also shined, clocking in at 2:18.30.
In the 400m-dash, Gaspar crossed the finish line in just over a minute, at 1:00.76, again taking third in her heat.
On Saturday, the Toreros shined in 1500m competition. Sophomore Kamryn Kozak kicked off the action with a heat win and personal record time of 4:57.50. Junior Lizzie McVey followed it up with a PR of her own and a second-place finish in her heat at 4:41.46.
The star Torero Aryam Jaimes finished the USD season with an appropriate bang, not only winning her heat with a personal best, but that time of 4:35.71 marked the sixth-best ever for the program in the event.
“[The team] had intentions, and they showed it in the 1500m races especially,” Guarino said. “I was pleased to see our 1500 girls push the boundary of racing and close their season with such positive results.”
The Toreros now end their season and begin their recovery cycle as they prepare for their journey for summer training. For Jaimes and Shelby Page, it was officially their last meets of their collegiate careers.

It’s conference championship season in Division I track and field. Before conference titles are decided, here’s a look at how I would rank the sport’s top stars, from 1 to 25.
- Mykolas Alekna, California men — He’s a world record holder.
- Doris Lemngole, Alabama women — The collegiate record holder in the steeplechase also has a top-15 time in the 1500 meters.
- Amanda Moll, Washington women — Moll cleared 4.76 meters for the pole vault collegiate record.
- Liam Murphy, Villanova men — Murphy set the collegiate record in the 1500 meters, an event where nine of the 12 fastest times in NCAA history have been run this year.
- Habtom Samuel, New Mexico men — The 5000 meter collegiate record holder is slotted one spot above his teammate since he also ran a 1500 meter race this season.
- Ishmael Kipkurui, New Mexico men — Kipkurui has the 10,000 meter collegiate record, forming the top distance duo in the country.
- Jayden Ulrich, Louisville women — Ulrich has the No. 2 all-time discus throw — and she also has the No. 4 shot put in the country this season.
- Pamela Kosgei, New Mexico women — Kosgei has run the No. 2 all-time 10,000 meter time and the No. 3 all-time steeplechase time this year.
- Ethan Strand, North Carolina men — If this was an indoor and outdoor ranking, he’d be No. 1, but it’s not. Outdoors, Strand has run the No. 2 all-time 1500 meters.
- Lexy Halladay-Lowry, BYU women — The BYU veteran has run the No. 3 5000 meters and No. 5 steeplechase in NCAA history.
- Michaela Rose, LSU women — Rose continues to near the 800 meter collegiate record. She ran the No. 2 all-time mark, besting her previous PR, in 1:58.12.
- Auhmad Robinson, Texas A&M men — Robinson has run only one 400 meter race this year and finished in 44.61 seconds, a national lead. He’s also been electrifying as an anchor on Aggie 4×400 relays, where Texas A&M hasn’t lost all season.
- Mya Lesnar, Colorado State women — Lesnar became the No. 3 all-time performer in the shot put with her 19.60-meter throw.
- Aaliyah Butler, Georgia women — Butler hasn’t lost a regular season 400 meter race in 2025 and has run the No. 9 200 meter time this year.
- Nathaniel Ezekiel, Baylor men — The Baylor Bear has the No. 3 400 meter and 400 meter hurdles times this year.
- Garrett Kaalund, Southern California men — Kaalund can do it all, running the No. 2 200 and 400 meters and the No. 4 100 meters — all while running a leg on the No. 2 4×100 meter relay.
- JaMeesia Ford, South Carolina women — Like Kaalund, JaMeesia Ford also is showing off her sprint versatility. Ford has the No. 3 100 meters and No. 5 200 and 400 meters. She’s also run on the nation’s No. 2 4×100 relay and No. 2 4×400 relay.
- Savannah Sutherland, Michigan women — Sutherland hasn’t lost a 400 hurdles race this season.
- Rachel Glenn, Arkansas women — Glenn has the No. 2 400 hurdles time in the country and is also one of the top high jumpers in the nation.
- Brandon Green Jr., Oklahoma men — Brandon Green Jr. hasn’t lost to a collegian in the triple jump all season and has been very consistent. He’s finished three meets with jumps of 16.92 meters twice and 16.68 meters.
- Indya Mayberry, TCU women — Mayberry is only a freshman, but she’s run the fastest all-conditions 100 meters time this season.
- Angelos Mantzouranis, Minnesota men — Mantzouranis threw 78.61 meters to become the No. 3 performer in the hammer ever.
- Tarik Robinson-O’Hagan, Ole Miss men — The Ole Miss star has the No. 2 shot put and No. 6 hammer throw in the country.
- Ralford Mullings, Oklahoma men — Mullings launched the discus 69.13 meters to become the second-best performer in NCAA history. He also has the 13th-best shot put this season.
- Hana Moll, Washington women — Hana Moll would be the top pole vaulter in DI if not for her sister setting collegiate records. Nonetheless, she’s performing at a top-10 all-time level herself.
