Tyson Wraps Up Long Jump, Sets Sights on Triple Jump at NCAA First Round

Fairfax, Va. – Sophomore Kailynn Tyson kicked off her NCAA First Round qualifiers with a solid showing in the long jump on Thursday.

Originally rescheduled for 1 p.m., Tyson opened with a jump of 5.54 meters. She showed improvement on her second attempt, reaching 5.55 meters. Her third and final jump was scratched, closing out her participation in the event. Tyson now shifts her focus to the triple jump, set for Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Kailynn placed 44th with her best mark set at 5.55 meters.

Action continues Friday, May 30, with teammates Geni Roberts and Wesley Bond taking the stage. Roberts will compete in the triple jump at 2:30 p.m., while Bond hits the track for the 3000m steeplechase at 5:40 p.m.
