UCLA Earns At-Large Selection, Top Seed for NCAA Beach VB Championship

INDIANAPOLIS — No. 1 UCLA (30-6) has earned the number one-seed for the 2025 National Collegiate Beach Volleyball Championship as announced by the NCAA Women’s Beach Volleyball Committee on Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. PT.

The Bruins will face 16th-seeded Chattanooga (26-5) on Friday, May 2 at 10:00 a.m. CT/8:00 a.m. PT. This will be the first-ever meeting between the Bruins and the Sandy Mocs.

This is UCLA’s ninth NCAA Championship appearance as the Bruins sport an overall record of 26-11 (.703) in NCAA Tournament play. The Bruins won back-to-back NCAA Championships in 2018 and 2019. UCLA also has three seconds- two thirds- and one fifth-place finish in NCAA Tournament history.

The NCAA Women’s Beach Volleyball Committee announced today the 16-team field for the 2025 NCAA Championship in a selection show streamed on NCAA.com.

The 2025 NC beach volleyball championship bracket will consist of 16 teams, with eight making it as automatic qualifiers via conference championships. The selected teams will be seeded Nos. 1-16 in the bracket.

The championship will then be played in single-elimination duals with 10 student-athletes split into five pairs from each team. The dual meet match is formatted in five best-of-three sets, pairs matches, with each pairs match being worth one point.

The opening round of the championship will be held Friday, May 2. The remaining 16 seeds will face off in a single elimination bracket May 2-4. The the quarterfinals and semifinals on May 3 and the championship dual on May 4. The championship will take place in Gulf Shores, Ala., hosted by the City of Gulf Shores, University of Alabama at Birmingham and Gulf Shores | Orange Beach Sports and Event.

The event will be televised live by ESPN networks, with ESPN2 providing live coverage on Friday and Saturday, and the championship dual on Sunday, May 4 at 10:30 a.m. ET will be on ESPN.
