HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – It took four sets for the University of Hawaii men’s volleyball team to advance in the 2025 NCAA National Championship.
The 2-seed Rainbow Warriors downed 7-seed Penn State in four sets to open their run for a third National Championship.
The Nittany Lions pushed the ‘Bows all match at the Covelli Center on the campus of the Ohio State University.
PSU leading at multiple points in every set, eventually taking set two, but Hawaii would prevail to advance to the NCAA semifinals.
It was a big outing for Freshman outside hitter Finn Kearney. The Phoenix native notched his first double-double of his career — with a team-high 16 kills and 10 digs.
UH will have Friday off before squaring up with 3-seed UCLA.
The semifinal match between the ‘Bows and Bruins is set for Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Hawaii time on ESPN+.
