For the Lobos, Emily Gonzalez placed second in the 126-pound class, Brianna Brown finished second in the 235-pound class, while Stefany Barrera took third place in the 138-pound class.
Uvalde High School wrestlers will begin the 2025 portion of their season next weekend when they compete in the Cy-Fair Invitational.
The Coyotes finished third in the boys’ team standings, while the Lobos place sixth in the girls’ team standings.Two hundred and forty teams will be represented in this three-day event.
Three Coyotes placed first at Corpus, including Alex Rodriguez in the 113-pound class, Carlos Rodriguez in the 138-pound class, and Tristen Sanchez in the 215-pound class.
On Jan. 8, UHS will host a quad-team wrestling competition in Harvey Kinchlow Gym.
Claiming second-place honors were Daniel Mendoza in the 106-pound class, George Rodriguez in the 126-pound class, and Orlando Romero in the 285-pound class.
UHS seniors will be honored during special ceremonies prior to the wrestling competition.
Coach Michael Liarakos’ Coyotes and Lobos will enter the Cy-Fair meet following action in the Dec. 18 San Antonio Cornerstone Dual meet and the Dec. 19-21 Rumble in the Jungle at Corpus Christi Carroll High School.
The event will be conducted Jan. 2-4 in Cypress’ Berry Center, the site for the state wrestling meet slated Feb. 13-15.
Joining the Uvaldeans for the meet will be wrestlers from San Antonio Wagner, Lanier, and Cornerstone.
