U-M to Head to Clemson, Boston U. for Split Weekend
Notes• In the high jump, John McNeil tied his season-best mark of 2.11m/6-11 for the win.
• U-M took the top five spots in the mile run. Brendan Herger finished first (3:59.66), Heath McAllister was second with a time of 4:02.55, Aiden Sullivan finished third (4:02.94), Ian Hill was fourth (4:03.01) and Peter Baracco finished fifth (4:05.77). Herger’s time is No. 5 in the Great Lakes Region, while McAllister’s is eighth, Sullivan’s is 12th, and Hill’s 13th.
• In the team’s most recent meet, the Michigan Invitational, Trent McFarland set the program’s 800m-meter run record with a time of 1:47.22. He bested the previous record of 1:47.37 set in 2022 by Miles Brown.
• Brown (1:47.25) and Camden Law (1:47.39) also had personal-best performances in the 800-meter run, the No. 2 and No. 3 marks on the program performers list. McFarland’s time is No. 19 in the NCAA, while Brown and Law’s times are No. 20 and No. 22, respectively.
• The 800-meter run squad is ranked No. 4 in the latest USTFCCCA Event Squad rankings, moving up seven spots since the Week Two rankings.
• Tianhao Wei had a personal-best mark of 7.07m (23 feet, 2.5 inches) in the long jump and a season-best mark in the triple jump (15.12m/49-7.25), winning both events. Wei’s triple jump mark is sixth in the region and his long jump mark is 22nd.
ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The University of Michigan men’s track and field team will split between a pair of meets for the first time this season, heading to Boston, Mass., for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University on Friday (Feb. 14) and to Clemson, S.C., for the Tiger Paw Invitational on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 14-15). Action at Boston U. will begin at 10:45 a.m. Track events at Clemson will begin at 4:20 p.m. on Friday (Feb. 14) and 12:40 p.m. on Saturday (Feb. 15), respectively, while field events will begin at 11 a.m. and 10 a.m.
• Josh Huisman finished third in the shot put with a personal-best mark of 17.87m (58-7.75), the No. 11 mark in the Great Lakes Region.
• In the weight throw, Eli Winter threw for a season-best 20.18m (66-2.50) to take first while Jake Steslicki finished fourth (18.61m, 61-0.75). Winter’s mark is No. 3 in the region.
