USC women’s water polo rising senior Sinia Plotz was Germany’s top scorer in helping her team win gold at the 2025 FISU World University Games. Competing in her home country, Plotz scored 13 goals at the event, including a hat trick in the gold-medal game.

Plotz also pinned up a team-best six blocks at the competition and stacked up four games with hat tricks — against Australia and Türkiye in group play, in a 13-11 quarterfinal win over Japan and in the 9-6 gold-medal win over the United States. She also scored a key goal in Germany’s 9-8 semifinal win over New Zealand to advance to the final.

A native of Duisburg, Germany, Plotz is entering her second season at USC. This is her first gold medal earned representing Germany, and her first participation at the World University Games, which were held this year in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany. Plotz served as Germany’s captain for this summer’s Games.
