The veteran coach went 44-45 during his tenure at Boaz.Sullivan is plenty familiar with Jacksonville, serving as a 4-year starter on the offensive line at Jacksonville State University from 1998-2001; he was named a second-team All-American in 2001.His 2024 team went 9-3 and advanced to the second round of the Class 5A playoffs, falling to Corner.After his playing career, he spent time as an assistant under head coach Jack Crowe at Jax State.A head football coach with ties with Jacksonville will be returning to Calhoun County.Sullivan spent the last eight seasons as the head coach at Boaz, guiding the program to seven straight playoff appearances in Class 5A.He also spent two seasons as the head coach at Citronelle High School in 2009 and 2010.He replaces longtime coach Clint Smith, who took over the football program at nearby White Plains.Jacksonville High School has made 12 straight playoff appearances, moving back up to Class 5A this season; the Golden Eagles went 6-5 last season and fell in the first round of the playoffs.Boaz coach Jeremy Sullivan was officially approved as the next head football coach at Jacksonville High School at a school board meeting on Thursday.Before being hired at Boaz, he had a stint as the offensive coordinator and assistant head coach at Pelham High School and was the defensive coordinator at Jackson from 2011-2014, helping guide the team to a 2011 state title.
