In the 6-minute YouTube video below, you’ll see Josh Jones (known as MFJJ to his YouTube followers) dry-fire a brand-new 33-inch Mathews Lift X — on purpose — twice! MSRP for this bow is $1,496. The bow is set for 29.5-inch draw length and 70 pounds draw weight.
MFJJ runs an online archery store called Podium Archer, which is affiliated with Spokane Valley Archery (brick and mortar store) in Washington state. FYI: MFJJ recently announced a new pro shop called Nashville North Archery in Ashland City, Tennessee (just north of Nashville).
In my opinion, MFJJ conducts some of the best compound bow reviews on YouTube. Even though he sells many bow brands, including all of the biggest names, he isn’t shy about sharing his thoughts and results when testing a bow — any bow. For that reason, he has a dedicated and loyal YouTube following.
MFJJ’s video description sums up perfectly what you’re about to see: “We did the unthinkable . . . we dry fired the brand-new Mathews Lift X, and the results were absolutely INSANE! This is one of the most dangerous things you can do to a bow, and the consequences could be devastating. Will the Lift X survive? Or will it be completely destroyed? Watch as we push this bow to its absolute limits, breaking the #1 rule in archery! You won’t believe what happens next . . .”
I’ll admit that I was shocked by the test results.
P.S. MFJJ correctly provides this important disclaimer: “DO NOT try this at home! Dry-firing a bow can be extremely dangerous and may result in injury or equipment damage.”
