Coming up on the one-year anniversary of Brandt Clarke’s first fight as a pro hockey player — when he took on Calgary’s Matthew Coronato while playing for AHL Ontario — the 21-year-old defenseman has opted to mix it up again. Only this time around, it was with an actual fighter.
Perhaps UFC legend Forrest Griffin saw tape of Clarke’s first fight (linked below) and wanted to give the young Kings rearguard a few tips. We’re still not quite sure how or why; yet they did manage to hook up recently and go a few rounds.
Either way, one rather interesting aspect of the pairing is the fact that Clarke was just a few months past his second birthday when Griffin had his Hall of Fame fight with Stephan Bonnar at the Ultimate Fighter Finale at Cox Pavillon in Las Vegas in April 2005.
Now, nearly 20 years later, Clarke and Griffin spent some time together at UFC headquarters — with Mikey Anderson, Trevor Moore, Andre Lee, and a few of his other teammates looking on…
