Volleyball Defeated in Sweep by American
Bri Frazilus led Bucknell with seven kills. Laura Caro received the starting assignment at setter and supplied 13 assists.
Sophie Dufour paced American with 12 kills. The Eagles had a decisive advantage in service ages with 13 to Bucknell’s one.
The teams were tied 3-3 in the opening set before a 6-1 American run created separation. The Bison tried to claw back but never inched closer than five points. The set was appropriately won on a service ace.
The second set followed a similar script. With the score tied at 3-3, the Eagles flew away from the Bison. A 5-0 Eagles run with the score 14-9 basically sealed the win. A Sidney Shaffer service error handed the set win to American.
Bucknell fell behind 11-6 in the third set but battled back multiple times to inch within one point. The last time saw the Bison trailing 16-15 when American uncorked a 7-1 run. The Orange & Blue countered with two blocks before two Dufour kills ended the set and match for American.
The Bison return to Davis Gym next Saturday to face Keystone State rival Lafayette.
