CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – For the 21st time in program history and the second season in a row, the Carolina volleyball team is heading to the NCAA Tournament.

The Tar Heels will head to Madison, Wis., to take on UTEP on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. EST. They are 1-0 against UTEP all-time. They have also squared off with Wisconsin 10 times. They have never played Eastern Illinois.

This is the first time since 2010-16 that the Tar Heels are dancing in consecutive seasons.

In year three at Carolina, head coach Mike Schall guided the Tar Heels to a 21-8 record, going 14-6 in the ACC play, peaking at No. 15 in the AVCA Coaches Poll. The 2025 campaign was the 32nd time in program history Carolina reached the 20-win mark and the second season in a row.

The winner of UNC/UTEP will take on the winner of Wisconsin/Eastern Illinois.

UNC holds a 16-19 record all-time in the NCAA Tournament and a 12-4 record in the first round since the tournament moved to 64 teams. The furthest a Tar Heels team has ever gotten was the Elite 8 in 2014.
