Volleyball Falls at San Diego in Three Sets

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco volleyball team (3-17, 1-9) dropped a 3-0 West Coast Conference decision at San Diego (17-4, 10-0) Thursday evening at Jenny Craig Pavilion.

 

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:

  • San Francisco fell into a hole in the match as San Diego secured the opening frame, 25-18. The Toreros nearly led for the entire way as the Dons trailed by as many as nine points throughout the first set.
  • San Diego dominated the second set en route to a 2-0 advantage in the match. The Toreros built an early 10-1 lead and cruised to a 25-12 second-set victory.
  • Despite a late surge in the third set, the Dons dropped the deciding frame 25-18, as the Toreros secured the straight set win.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

  • Astrid Puig led San Francisco offensively, accumulating a team-high nine kills.
  • Shannon Knight posted two service aces during the contest, marking the fourth straight match she has totaled two more aces in a match.
  • Abby Wadas, Crystal Galaviz, and Andrea Fabikovicová combined for 24 digs, with Wadas leading the program with nine.
  • Fabikovicová recorded double-digit assists, posting 14 to lead the team. 

UP NEXT:

San Francisco concludes its road trip when it faces off against Pepperdine at noon on Saturday, Nov. 1, at Firestone Fieldhouse.
