Volleyball Sweeps Lehigh – Bucknell University Athletics

BETHLEHEM, Pa.- Bucknell (9-13, 6-7 Patriot League) collected its second straight win by sweeping (25-18, 25-19, 25-19) Lehigh (10-12, 4-9 Patriot League) on Sunday afternoon. The Bison held their Keystone Clash rival in check all afternoon and swept the season series 2-0 with the victory.

Bucknell dominated in kills (42-25) and shoveled 40 digs to Lehigh’s 36. The Bison outhit the Mountain Hawks .298 to .074. 

Bri Frazilus led the Bison with 12 kills. Sidney Shaffer also reached double-digits with ten kills. Laura Caro and Caleigh O’Connell combined for 32 assists. 

The Bison trailed 3-2 in the first set but used a 5-0 run to seize the lead and never fell behind again. Lehigh inched towards 9-7 before an 8-2 Bucknell stretch put the set away. The Orange & Blue coasted to the 25-18 win. 

Lehigh grabbed early control of the second set and led 14-10 before a 4-0 Bucknell run tied the situation. The team traded points for a few rounds until the Bison used another 4-0 segment to separate and roll to the 25-19 victory. 

Bucknell, seeking the sweep, started quickly in the third set with a 9-5 lead. Lehigh, refusing to roll over, fought back to lead 15-13. The Bison immediately rallied for a 9-2 run. The momentum belonged to Bucknell and a Frazilus service ace won the set and match. 

The Bison return to Davis Gym to welcome Holy Cross (Nov. 7) and Colgate (Nov. 8) next weekend.
