CHARLOTTE, N.C. – For the first time in her young career, Sophia Overholt captured a Big South Conference weekly honor, being named the league’s Libero of the Week Monday afternoon. Her first career honor delivers Upstate its 14th different weekly award win of the season and makes it the only league program to earn a win in each of the four award categories in 2025.

Overholt, hailing from Tryon, N.C., ranked second in the Big South last week in both total digs and digs per set, picking up 58 balls at an average of 6.44 digs per set. Against Radford, she scooped up a career-high 35 digs—at the time the most by a Big South player this season—as her single-match total ties for fourth-most in program history. She followed with 23 digs against High Point while adding five assists, one shy of her career best.
