Vote for the South Shore Boys Volleyball Player of the Year
There was plenty of spiking, setting and serving amongst South Shore boys volleyball teams this spring.
With that, we need reader assistance in choosing the best from the top players in the area.
Cast your vote for the Ledger/Enterprise High School Boys Volleyball Player of the Year. Reader votes will make up 20% of the tally, with our four staff reporters (Eric McHugh, Jason Snow, Ryan Vermette and Chris McDaniel) making up the rest of the vote. Each school is limited to a one-candidate maximum. voting will conclude on Wednesday, July 2.

Ben Cleary, BC High
The junior outside hitter racked up 341 kills for a .241 hitting percentage, averaging 4.94 kills per set. He also had 185 digs, 32 blocks, and 31 aces. Has 552 kills, 437 digs, 108 blocks, and 59 aces in career. Broke single season records for kills and kills per set this spring. “He filled the role left vacant by his brother and led the eagles on offense and played a vital role in the passing unit and backrow as a 6 rotation player,” coach James Chen said.
Deon Li, Braintree
Senior setter led team in assists and aces this season. Has 1,000 career assists. Named a Bay State Conference 1st team all-star, BSC Herget League Co-MVP, and a MASSHSVB Honorable Mention all-star. Is also a two-time BSC Herget League champion. “His quickness, volleyball IQ, understanding of key moments during competition were exciting to watch,” coach Roberta Stannard said.
Santiago Duquette, Brockton
Senior outside hitter scored 148 kills, 163 digs, 36 aces, and 114 service points this season. Has 275 kills, 347 digs, 50 aces, and 239 service points for career. “Santiago was our leader and captain pushing himself and teammates to have a successful season,” coach Jack Olson said.
Osagie Odion-Upkebor, Milton
Junior tallied 120 kills this season, hitting at a .240 percentage. He also had 17 solo blocks and 23 block assists for a total of 40. Is a two-time Bay State League honorable mention. “Osagie is a dynamic and powerful front row player. He is a difference maker when he is on the court,” coach Chris Chin said.
Jake Bassan, Quincy
The junior is a three-year starter at outside hitter for the Presidents. He had 20 aces, 157 kills, and 153 digs this spring. “He has been a leader on our team for the last 3 years and improves his craft every season,” coach Jacqui Niosi said.
Zachary Corr, Silver Lake
Junior outside hitter led the Lakers in ace percentage and digs, and was second on team in kills. Was named a Patriot League all-star for the 2025 season. “Served as captain this season, team leader on and off court,” coach Scott Turley said.
Michael Faiella, Weymouth
Senior right-side hitter totaled 302 kills this season, averaging 13.5 per match. Also averaged 3.35 blocks per match. Played a team-high 81 sets/games in 22 matches this spring. Was named a 1st team Bay State Conference all-star. “Mikey was a leader and go-to hitter, he was our most effective player in the attack, many times our opponent knew he would be set but he still made the play and earned the point for us,” coach Bill McEachern said.
