Follow him on X, formerly known as Twitter: @EricGuzman90.Nate Rocheleau, football, Harper Woods: The Pioneers made it back to the state championships with Rocheleau leading the offense, but ultimately came up short in a 35-6 loss to Goodrich. The junior quarterback, winner for Week 12 (Nov. 10-16), finished the season with 2,021 passing yards and 24 touchdowns as he completed 109 of his 152 passing attempts. He also rushed for four touchdowns.Gavin Lewis, football, Kingsley High School: The junior two-way player and winner for Week 3 (Sept. 8-14), had an impressive season for the Stags. On offense, Lewis played running back and rushed for 1,138 yards on 128 carries and completed 13 rushing-touchdowns. He also had 14 receptions on 195 yards and four touchdowns. On defense at the corner position, Lewis had 46 tackles, forced four interceptions and one pick-six.

This week’s poll will be a different than usual. To celebrate some the fall’s best performances, we’re nominating four of our highest vote-getters in 2024.Here are this week’s nominees (listed in alphabetical order by last name):

Michael Kronner, football, Warren Mott: Kronner led Warren Mott to its third playoff playoff appearance in four years. The senior quarterback, winner of Week 2 (Sept. 3-7), finished his final season with 2,001 passing-yards and 27 touchdowns while completing 133 of his 203 attempts. He also rushed the ball 95 times for 507 yards and 11 rushing-touchdowns.It’s time to vote for the Detroit Free Press Prep Athlete of the Week.
